Kristin Amarie’s, NOTES FROM A JOURNEY (2013), was her very first studio album, but rose to the top of The Independent Music Awards, where she was awarded Best New Age album, from a jury of judges around the world. NOTES FROM A JOURNEY, also marked the first collaboration, heard here on Kristin’s composition, WITHOUT YOU, between her and the iconic pianist, David Lanz. This was the beginning of an intimate and intense coming together of two world class artists, whose musical highlights are showcased within.

The years following, found them composing and recording not only music and lyrics, featuring the vocal talents of Amarie, but also composing piano based instrumentals together, something Lanz had only done for himself during his earlier years as a solo artist, beginning in 1984. A beautiful example of this is heard here on, NORWEGIAN RAIN (2016), composed while visiting Kristin’s family in Norway. From here, MANY BLESSINGS, focuses on three more of their most loved albums. SILHOUETTES OF LOVE (2015), LETTERE D’AMORE (2022), and AYRES (2024).

Much of their music is self produced, but of note, several Grammy-Nominated producers contributed their talents to this collection.

Alex Salzman, Kristin’s co-producer on NOTES FROM A JOURNEY, co-produced two of their love songs, CIRCLES ROUND THE MOON and SO IN LOVE from SILHOUETTES OF LOVE. David Arkenstone, well known recording artist and multi instrumentalist, worked closely with them on LETTERE D’AMORE. The songs featured here are, LOVERS’ BRIDGE, SONATA, ARIA, ONE MORE NIGHT, THE ENCHANTED GARDEN, as well as the title track.

The remaining tracks, all from their highly praised award winning album, AYRES (2024) points in the direction that Lanz and Amarie find themselves moving towards these days, that is, using the orchestra to more realize their musical vision. The Utah Film Orchestra, is brilliantly arranged by the Emmy winning, Kurt Bestor. In a surprising move, an original lyric set to Bach’s Air on a G String, is featured with special guest, Procol Harum’s organist, Matthew Fisher. They also reimagine several beautiful classic hymns with their original music. AVE MARIA, with Liberia’s boy treble, Luca Brugnoli and GLORIA IN EXCELSIS DEO. This rendition finds Kristin in a duet with American tenor, Dallyn Vail Bayles, along with the premier UK vocal ensemble, APOLLO5. The remaining two tracks, BEAUTIFUL ONE, a piano cello duet with GAME OF THRONES cellist, Cameron Stone, and the epic piano/ orchestral track, SACRED WATERS, rounds out the collection.

Often labeled New Age, they clearly have now marked their territory in the Classical Crossover realm. As of this writing, more orchestral work is in progress, and as always, more beautiful surprises are on the way!
